MARITIME BETHEL AT SAVANNAH ANNOUNCES CHRISTMAS AT SEA FUNDRAISER
Savannah, GA November 2, 2015 – The Maritime Bethel at Savannah announces its annual Christmas at Sea fundraising event set for Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Garden City United Methodist Church Parish Hall. Attendees are invited to enjoy dinner including salad and dessert and to bring a festive gift, sweet treats or a Savannah souvenir to brighten up Christmas Day for seafarers who will be at sea during the holidays. Suitable gifts should be something that you would personally like to be given and reasonably portable. Telephone cards for international calls are always well received by the seafarers. Tickets for the event are $25 plus $12.50 for each additional adult in the group. Children under six are free of charge.
The Maritime Bethel at Savannah is a non-profit organization which provides ‘far away from home’ personal and practical support to seafarers who come into the port of Savannah on big ships from all over the world. The organization urgently needs funds and volunteers to continue with its work in helping the approximately 78,000 people who crew the ships at the 4th largest and one of the fastest growing seaports in North America. By purchasing tickets for the December 3 event participants will help to maintain the important services provided to seafarers by this non-profit organization.
Andy Krey, Chaplain and Executive Director of the Maritime Bethel at Savannah comments, “We want to make sure all seafarers have a happy Christmas while at sea, and donations from the community are a great help. Our annual Christmas at Sea event is fun for the entire family and really gets you into the Christmas spirit.”
